Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Application
Letter of recommendation

One well deserving student, Sarinna Kemmis, has been awarded the Cindy Bartlett Memorial Scholarship of $500!

The CBMSF is awarded to an alternative education student with special learning needs or someone who has otherwise overcome obstacles or adverse circumstances in their lives. The nominees must demonstrate excellence and promise and have a goal of attending college or a vocational training program after graduation.

Cindy Bartlett was a Resource Specialist teacher at Rio Cazadero High School for 15 years and taught in the Elk Grove Unified School District over 20 years. After a yearlong battle with cancer, she passed away in May 1996. Cindy dedicated her life to teaching and those of us who loved her are carrying on her loving and joyful spirit through this scholarship for one of “her kids.” “Her kids” aren’t always considered as scholarship recipients but they are students who have overcome great obstacles including learning disabilities, special needs or incredible life hardships.
